Treatment for Teens and Adults

Teens

These days, it is common to see teens with braces. At Beaverton Orthodontics, we want you to be able to have the style of braces that look best and work best for you. You can choose cool colored ties to hold in your archwires, or you can choose "self-ligating" braces with low friction gates that hold in your archwire. Whatever you choose, you will be delighted with how comfortable modern braces are, and how smoothly your orthodontic treatment progresses.

You will also be asked to help make your treatment go smoothly by taking care of your teeth and braces, wearing rubber bands to fix how your upper and lower teeth fit together, and wearing your retainers after your braces are removed. With your help, we can give you a beautiful smile that lasts a lifetime!

Adults

Orthodontic treatment can be successful at any age, and adults especially appreciate the benefits of a beautiful smile. At Dr. Black and Dr. Song's office, one of every four patients is over 18, and many are in their 50's and 60's! We have many types of treatment to offer, from clear aligners to "self-ligating" braces, which many adults prefer for aesthetics and comfort.

Adults often have dental needs beyond simply crooked teeth. You may have worn or missing teeth, gum recession, and jaw joint dysfunction (TMD). In very rare instances, an adult's bite may require a combination of orthodontic and surgical correction. This can allow a more ideal bite correction and even profile changes.

Dr. Black and Dr. Song strongly believe in close communication with your Dentist, Periodontist, and Oral Surgeon during your orthodontic treatment, to coordinate care and plan for a spectacular outcome!

One special note to our future adult patients: Dr. Black had braces as an adult (he even did his own adjustments, upside down and backwards in a mirror!), and most of our team had braces as adults as well! We all know what it's like having orthodontic treatment, and with Dr. Black and Dr. Song, it is truly a great experience!
